About Matt
Matt Holton graduated from ASHA School of Massage. Matt is also a Certiified Thai Massage Practitioner, having trained with some of the first instructors to bring this healing modality to the United States. Most recently, he trained in Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching, the form of training/bodywork made notable by Olympic swimmer Dara Torres.
Matt has a lifelong interest in Asian culture and holds a B.A. in Japanese Language and Literature from the University of Georgia. He has focused much of his study on Eastern systems of medicine, movement, body mechanics, and breathing such as Traditional Chinese medicine, Traditional Thai Medicine, Ayurveda, Yoga, T'ai Chi, martial arts, and meditational breathing. Matt is also a certified personal trainer and an active Crossfitter.
Matt strives to listen closely and compassionately to his clients in order to create the best session possible. In his practice, he blends Classical Asian healing arts with modern science-based massage modalities. He integrates all of his training in Neuromuscular Therapy, Clinical Sports Massage, Muscle Energy Techniques, Thai Massage, and Resistance Stretching in order to move the client's body back into balance and out of pain.
Matt is an instructor of Clinical Sports Massage and Asian Theory at ASHA School of Massage. He also maintains successful practices at Decatur Healing Arts, a yoga and t'ai chi studio, and Crossfit East Decatur, an exercise gym, where he both sees clients for bodywork and teaches stretching classes focusing on injury recovery and prevention.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys hiking, reading, bicycling, yoga, Crossfit, jujitsu, cooking, travel and spending time with friends, family, and his dog Rita.
